Had this on tap as well as from a growler. Poured into a snifter, it pours a moderate brown that is difficult to see the light through. A minimal light tan head is formed and leaves a mild lacing around the edges.
The smell was where I began to get excited. Nice combination of cocoa, coffee, a milky sweetness, and a hidden but present hops.
The taste is very good as well with similar culprits to the nose. There is a milky sweetness mixed with cocoa and coffee and nice lightly hopped finish.
The mouthfeel was medium bodied. The carbonation is a bit low. This goes down quite clean but leaves a dryness similar to straight cocoa powder.
Overall, this is a very good beer. I was worried when I first poured it and then was quite pleased by the nose and taste. If you can get to the brewery and have this, it is well worth it. Incidently, my wife and friends really liked it too, two of which do not generally like dark beers.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
