Poured into a pint glass. It pours a dark brown that almost looks black. A tan 1 inch head forms and reduces to a blotchy then, non-existent lacing. No sediment and carbonation visible.
The aroma was a bit bland to me with some mild earthy notes combined with a hint of baker's chocolate and caramel.
The taste was solid with a heavy dose of baker's chocolate, some earthy lager-ish components, although almost tasted like a porter. Some coffee bitterness makes it interesting.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a good level of carbonation that balances the flavor. A bitter and dry finish with a quick up front blast of flavor makes it tasty but leaving a pleasant ending.
Overall, this is a decent beer and has some real strong points but nothing that stands out. If you like the possibility of a lager mixed with a porter, this would be close and is worth trying.
