Bad bottle? I love Pig's Ear more than most folks, but this stuff is awful. Pours brown with outrageous huge-bubbled head. Aromas of metal and must. Almost flavorless, with some mild malt and tangy bitterness. Way over-carbonated. Finishes dry with lingering metallic. Something's not right here.

From the 650 ml bottle dated May 2015. Sampled on April 12, 2015.

It was an appealing looking amber-reddish pour with a big off-white head that never settles completely.

Sweetness defines the aroma with caramel malts, brown sugar, butterscotch, toffee and a slight earthy bitterness.

About a medium body. But smooth.

Sweetness abounds in the flavor too. Same characters of caramel malts, toffee, brown sugar, and butterscotch. Pleasant mild earthy bitterness to balance things out at the finish.

Bottle from Bert's
Deep clear reddish brown color with a smallish off white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aromas of caramel toffee and hints of butterscotch. Light earthy hop aroma. Sweet rich caramelized malt sugars with lots of butterscotch and toffee. Light mineral water and earthy hop flavor, light hop bitterness. Medium body moderate carbonation. Decent enough pale ale. Has some diacytyl in the aroma and flavor and that usually ruins a beer for me. For some reason this beer and Pig's Ear kind of work with that flaw in it.
