Pours a slightly cloudy, deep mahogany coloration with a large foamy/creamy, lasting head. Smell is quite boozy, with some caramel malt, dark fruit; fig, raisins and just a hint of honey and herbal hops. Taste is dominated by caramel, bready malt, dark fruits: fig, raisins and toffee, with hints of honey and light earthy/herbal hops as well. Finishes quite bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some boozy dark fruit notes lingering the aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While this is not great, it was certainly a lot better than expected, to be honest. While this is quite boozy and oddly thin in the mouthfeel department, it actually has a rather decent balance of sweetness and bitterness going on, as well as maltiness and hoppiness. It kind of lacks a certain complexity and richness for the style though. Wouldn't have this again, but had no problems finishing it either.
