They spell it "Pilsener." It pours a clear yellow-gold color with a modest head that soon diminishes to a thinner later. In the nose, it is primarily malt with just a touch of hops. In the mouth, it has a light pilsner kick, with a nice malt base.

Pours a clear, light golden coloration with a large, fizzy head. Smell is quite subdued and oddly sweet: honey, grains, slightly herbal, with the faintest hint of citrus. Taste follows the nose with a noticeable honey sweetness that seems quite uncharacteristic for a Pilsner and slight notes of citrus, grass and some biscuity malt. There's also a slight, lingering mineral presence and a pretty light bitterness. While I will admit to not being a fan of Pilsners in general, this seems like a pretty mediocre example of the style. It's oddly sweet, pretty bland and lacks character and bitterness.

Pours a crystal clear golden color with a foamy, big head.
Smells of dried lemon zest and fresh cut herbs, together with straw and white bread dough.
Has a supersoft mouthfeel with a nice, hop supported refeshment, due to a lively carbonation.
Tastes of straw, silk bread dough, a note of rock sugar and a nice amount of leaves, adding a gentle dryness from the first moment. Offers a wheat softness, which gently embraces a powerful, herbal hop presence. Finishes with a more prominent malt backbone, easily balanced by the dry hops.
A bit dull right before the finish, missing a continously convincing balance, but apart from that, this is really good, with a hop presence I am wishing for in all my Pilsener.

Pours clear light straw beer with abundance of fluffy white head, good retention. Smell of ballpen, grain, dough. Flavour follows the smell, hops are not enough. Light body, medium to soft carbonation. Too subtle to be ponderous.

Clear golden pour, two finger fluffy white head with nice retention.
Very faint fruitiness in the smell, grassy hops, some grains and a bit of earthiness, all standard for a pilsener.
Rather sweet from start to finish, countered by bitter spicy hops. Some citric crispness, faint yellow apple, white bread. Again, standard, with a extra aromatic hop presence, with some floral notes, earthiness and a small stewed vegetables feel. No metal tho.
Light bodied, a tiny bit buttery, fizzy.
Decent, refreshing, gets a bit rough as you drink it, and the sweetness sticks around a bit after the dry finish.

Störtebecker's Pils wasn't too bad. It was sweeter than I like in a Pils, but also drier. For me, Pils and dry don't go together. A thick mouthfeel from decent protein rests when brewing helps create the feeling of Gemütlichkeit, with which, like a Bayrisch Helles or Pils, I hold as standard, and without which I find disappointing. Also, I'd hoped Störtebecker's Pils had been a bit bitterer. This is after all, a brewery marketing itself as North German brewer. They're from Strahlsund, a small city in the northeast of Germany near the Polish border. It's marketing sells the Baltic Sea (Ostsee in German) and all the hoppy connotations that entails. I hoped for a bitter, hoppy punch, but only got a dry, sweet, bland Pils. A 3 only.

Pours a brilliant light-colored straw with a half-finger of fine stocky head. Smells musty and earthy hops with decent spicy zip and a gingersnap cookie yumminess. Sulfur and grass. Tastes snappy hop bitter with grassy and floral noble hop flavor. Has alot of saaz hop character, but also some tettnanger, is grassy and straw-like in flavor. Supporting malt sweet is mild and smooth. Very dry finish works well with the zippy hops, though the beer is lacking some 'umpph' (umami?). Tin and grassy dry aftertaste. Light body and full carbonation. Nicely done!

18th Jan 2014 and I'm at Berlin's annual International Green Week and I wandered into one of the exhibition halls to be confronted by a huge Stortebeker bar in the form of a large boat: Their Pilsner being one of the beers available on tap. It being the weakest I asked for a 0.3 litre (I was on a drinking mission and strong beers were not really an option).
The beer came looking like your usual golden, clean and clear Pilsner, with the typical white fading head.
The nose seemed stronger than most German Pilsners, this had a floral, herbal and grainy aroma.
The actual taste was weak, not much going on: refreshing enough but lacked any real flavours, good or bad. I decided it was a bog standard Pilsner with a better smell than most, but with 'run of the mill' attributes otherwise.
Nothing to set it apart from thousands of similar brews, which is a shame.

Appearance: light yellow and clear with a two finger high foam, leaving barely no traces on the glass.
Smell: a very fresh smell of grass and apricot. A slight rubbery tone as well.
Taste: starts out rather sweet, but hop bitterness gets more and more pronounced the more you drink. It's got a buttery note to it.
Mouthfeel: rather thin, but the carbonation is high and makes it very refreshing.
Overall: It's a pretty decent pilsner. It will not rock your world, but neither will it disappoint you.
