From notes back in August. At the brewery.
Darker amber pour, limited amount of off white head, not much retention.
Aroma had sweet malt, raisin and possibly fruitcake.
Malt and toffee flavors, but a large amount of fruit, cherry. Good hints of wood, peat and smoke. Maybe just a bit too much fruitiness.
Quite low on carb, but very smooth. Not quite medium bodied. Not problems drinking this one.

On cask at the brewery...
A- Pours a brownish amber color. Half finger light tan head shows medium retention. Nice streaky lacing on the glass as I drank this one down.
S- Light roasted aroma from the get go. Carmel malts with some light peat undertones. Some oaky notes that muddle around a smoked meat aroma. Pretty good on the aroma side.
T- Nice smoked flavor from the get go. This comes to a caramel malt ending on the front. A light nutty toasted flavor in the middle goes along with more caramel malts. There is a light smokey flavor in the end of this that goes along well with the alcohol in the ending.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for it being on cask. Flavors were a little muddled at times. Smoked peat on the palate after each sip. Some more smoked flavor with a light sweetness in the aftertaste. Light drying on the palate with each sip.
D- This was a good cask beer and I would gladly have it again. The Livery has really got my attention and to be honest I am glad. A brewery that is really under the radar.

16 oz pour from a cask. Poured copper to light brown with no head. Aroma was dark fruits and smokey peat. Was over taken by the sourness of this beer. Sour flavor overshadowed the complexity of the malt profile, and was all I could focus on. Don't believe that sour is desired in this style. I wont try again, but I must say I have had many amazing beers brewed by Steve.

Dark muddy brown to black, bourbon barrel aged beer served in a snifter. Rich smell of prunes, caramel malts, and a little bourbon. The taste shows more of a straight up bourbon flavor than any vanilla, sweet and malty, finishing with a nice peat and slightly smokey flavor that tingles the tongue. As one would expect, this medium bodied beer shows a very low level of carbonation. Nice treat, look forward to more of the Livery's barrel aged offerings.
