Stunning appearance. Darker than usual marzen copper with an exceptionally thick tan froth. Head retention is second to none. The two inch thick froth in my imperial pint glass shrinks to about a ½ inch and stays there for the duration. Bright clarity despite the richly colored body.
Aroma is powerfully malty. Not as much toast as I would like but the Vienna and/or Munich malts are present in such large numbers that I couldnt care less. Some caramel. No hop aroma that I can find.
Taste/Mouthfeel: As expected form the nose, this is an extremely malty and very German beer. The flavor is clean without diacetyl notes. There could be more toast for my personal liking but this is really spot on otherwise. The front is sweet with diverse German malt flavors and the finish is moderately dry with a lingering all spiciness perfect for the fall. Nutmeg is particularly distinguishable in the beer.
Drinkability: Sessionable.
