growler purchased at the brewery april 29/2011 and kept refrigerated. sampled may 8/2011.
pours slightly hazy orangey amber with a small fine white head. the head drops fairly fast but leaves a bunch of lace as it falls.
aroma is good. grassy herbal character. touch of hoppy spice. faint grapefruity citrus and perhaps just a touch of pine. light alcohol. whole wheat bread. cracker. grain. bit of biscuit. lightly fruity. bit of caramel and slightly buttery toffee. i think i get just a hint of banana too. neat!
taste is good. nice bitter bite - around medium-high bitterness level. strongly herbal and spicy bit with accompanying floral notes. light pine and grapefruit. spicy hops too. bit of alcohol. grainy. whole wheat bread and cracker. lightly buttery toffee. fruity, but i'm not picking up any banana now. perhaps just a touch of dms.
mouthfeel is good. nice light body. medium carbonation level.
drinkability is great. nice balance. good hop and malt character. a tasty cali common.

Growler picked up at the brewpub, also had on cask there.
Pours a lightly hazed golden yellow, some orange highlights, medium sized white head forms and slowly settles to a thick ring around the glass, very chunky and rocky, lace spirals stick, good retention, looks nice.
Smell is real nice, light and malty with a big floral hoppiness, some citrus, orange peel, faint pineapple, more floral, caramel and biscuit malt in the background, almost a salty gose-like character, minerally, wheat, lightly yeasty, light and refreshing.
Taste is similar, big citrus rind character, orange and melon peels, minerals, some caramel and biscuit sweetness, middle is a bit weak, some wheat, grainy, a bit yeasty and astringent in the finish, more citrus and a floral kick, solid bitterness.
Mouthfeel is light bodied with low to medium carbonation. Real smooth and drinkable, I enjoyed this one a bit better on cask, just had a bit more going on in the flavour, but a real nice refreshing beer. Thanks Russ!

A dry-hopped California Comon. On tap at The Livery.
Pours a slightly-hazed golden color with a good white head and a bit of lacing on the way down. The nose brings sharp floral and herbals hops. Really nice balance between the two, and a bit of grain in the background. The flavor has a light graininess and a lovely bouquet of background hops. Floral and herbal are the name of the game. Light body with a good finishing bitterness. Really well done.
