Described as a sour blonde dopplebock. On draft at the Belgian Cafe.
Pours a cloudy dark golden orange with golden yellowish-orange hues and a one finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick lasting ring. Chunks of spotty soapy lacing left.
Slightly earthy grass aroma with hints of hay, earthy soily hops, straw, cream and crisp light fruit. Possibly dry funk/brett along with hints of apple, pear and banana.
Medium bodied with a slight funky tart character up front that lingers into a sweet vinegary finish that lingers. Dry musty brett character while being only slightly sour. More tart than anything but the sweetness and other earthy notes balance things out. Hints of piney hops, grass and straw with a strong malt backbone. There's possibly some honey along with some hay and subtle peppery hop spiciness. Complex and well balanced with dry piney hops toward the end of the palate. The high ABV is excellently masked making this beer pretty easy to drink. Interesting and complex but a bit too sweet with a ton of apple cider, lemon peel and pear flavor that adds to the lingering sour aftertaste.
