L- Pours black, but with notably little foam/head forming at all. Just a 1-2mm ring of tan bubbles around the side.
S- Strikingly toasty and even a bit smokey, nice.
T- Roasty-toasty, a really nice charring overall. Quite hoppy-bright, the low-ABV% ties with lower body making it's flavour seem more prominent.
F- On the first sip I could tell the dissolved CO2 was very very low; you know to a point where you wonder if maybe something went wrong.
O- A pungently flavoured trad deeply roasty-toasty beer but unfortunately the CO2 on both the pour and in the mouth were notably lacking. It's a real shame as that leaves a kind of glaring void in the overall experience of enjoying it. I'd be interested to try another one and see if I just got unlocky with this bottle. With appropriate CO2 this would have scored higher across each category excl. Smell.
Bought from Bacchanalia, Cambridge, 500ml bottle £2.99 BBE: Nov-2022.
