330ml bottle poured into tulip.

L - burnt orange, cloudy, very thin white lacing

S - smells like sherry, mixed with some rotting berries, earthy yeast and floral notes

T - strong initial fruity tartness, more than any farm made scrumpy cider I have had. Some lemon, berries in there as well. Malt backdrop pops up towards the short finish.

M - chewy, very low carbonation, light bodied

O - Interesting style, more drinkable than Red Duck's RA No. 3 Egyptian bread beer. This is a tad too tarty for me. I didn't pick up much herbal flavours as much as the bottle label suggested.

Bottle: solid brown 330mL bottle with a very stylish (and cute) label. A lovely package.

Appearance: pours a vibrant orange-amber colour with limited head similar to The Gruiter. A bit more fine carbonation though still not heaps.

Aroma: plenty of those sour gruit aromas of unripened berries, floral and herbal aromas. Refreshing and a bit easier to take than the Gruiter.

Taste: whilst I came to like The Gruiter even though it is intensely sour and very different, this feels more like it is half-way. Lemon citrus, sour cherries and berry, earth and herbs. Goes down pretty easy.

Aftertaste: more sourness and tartness, but in this case metered out by some spice, herbs and floral notes, and a touch of sweetness.

Mouth feel: a moderate body with fine moderate carbonation. Very dry on the finish, with a tart bite. Nice, if you like that sort of thing (which I do).

Overall: a very different beer with plenty of different flavours due to the complete lack of hops. The replacement is a great combination of floral and herbal, with sour berries and some earth backbone. I love trying different beers, and this one is much easier to drink in a session than The Gruiter.
