Purchased at the source in March 2026 and drunk in May that year.
L: Jet black, with a big, marshmallowy, mocha-coloured head.
S: The nose is burnt sugar, dark malts, and sweet, milky coffee.
T: The taste is mild, with ground coffee, oats, condensed milk, and a burnt note that clashes nicely with a retronasal jammy/ripe berry note.
M: The carbonation is mild, but the carbonic bite is quite sharp. The body of the beer is rich and full.
O: A nice beer, but as with many oatmeal stouts, everything is dialled back and sweet. That's not a knock at all; it just points to the general lack of punch common to this kind of beer.
