I spent the afternoon of February the 24th having lunch with my wife, Jess, at Red Hill Brewery in Red Hill South, Victoria, Australia. They have a beautiful property amongst the lush green backdrop of the Mornington Peninsula's wine region.
Estate grown hops, a charming and tiny brewhouse plus a great sunny deck from which to nosh on a plates of beer-centric foods whilst washing down fresh beer makes for one happy vacationer. After you order a beer from the personable staff just walk over to the deck rails to pull off your own flowers from the hop-vines and enjoy!
Jess kept whispering to me all throughout lunch, "We should live here, we should live here...".
Big thanks to both Karen and Dave Golding for their hospitality and sending me home with an armful of great (and hard to get) beers. We will be back before we head home and I, for one, am especially looking forward to partaking in the hop harvest early next month.
In addition, Red Hill is on top of their social media so find them on Facebook, FourSquare, Twitter or Untappd.

Went to Red Hill on most recent trip to Melbourne over Public Holiday (Queen's Birthday).
A-- Lots of wood. Very homey feel and nice. Even though it was early winter and only in the mid 50's the place had a good feel to it. Bummer the hops were already picked and the garden for the hops was barren.
Q-- Very new feel and look to the place. Very well organized and looked like a brewery. Has to be somewhat winery like as the Mornington Peninsula is a major winery area in Victoria. Beers were good and had a decent selection of wines.
S-- Great service. Attentive and talkative staff at the brewery able to sell and describe the beers and more than that they were fun. Looked like they had fun with what they were doing.
S-- Just their beers. Came for the Imperial Stout and got a scotch ale and a fresh hop ale. As said they had a wine list and have to in a wine region.
P-- Well priced for Australian standards. Bought a 6 pack of Imperial Stout for $30. For Aussie standards this is a good price for a beer that is 8.1 %. Glasses were a bit expensive but did not get a glass.
F-- Did not have food as had a reservation elsewhere. Lots of small bites though on the menu.
V-- Good value for their seasonal's and special beers but the rest are pretty average. Good atmosphere and easy to find. Prices are much better than other breweries in Australia at their brewery. Good scenery and great staff. Worth the 1 hour drive out of Melbourne.
