Reviewed from notes taken in Summer 2015:
On-draught into a nonic pint glass at a bar in Riga, Latvia. Cost was 2.20 euro.
HEAD: White in colour. Below average (~1 minute) retention. No lacing adheres to the sides of the glass as the head recedes.
BODY: Dark deep amber of good vibrance. Has a sanguine glow to it. Translucent yet nontransparent. Clean, with no visible yeast or lees.
AROMA: Amber malts and accompanying sweetness, light toasted malt, caramalt, some breadiness, crystal malt. A pleasant albeit sweet aroma of mild strength.
I detect no overt yeast aromatics or alcohol, and there are no off-notes. Not a hoppy aroma by any stretch.
TASTE: Amber malts are at the core of this beer's malt backbone, joined by caramalt, deep sweet malt syrup, fruity hops, and some faint bread crust.
Fairly plain and simple. Cohesive but not a gestalt whole of a brew. Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour.
Decently balanced, I guess, but its simplicity makes that unimpressive.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, lightly syrupy, a biteen thick, and somewhat chewy. Overcarbonated. It doesn't suit the taste particularly well, but it's okay generally speaking.
OVERALL: A forgettable amber brew with little to offer the discerning drinker. I wouldn't get it again, but it's not bad for what it is. Drinkable, sure. On the low side of average.
