This classic style was first brewed by monks in the Middle Agesin order to fortify themselves during their fasting. A generous amount of malt goes into every bottle of smooth, rich Taybeh Dark Beer. Brewed in small batches in German traditional style using roasted malted barley, hops, yeast, and pure water creating a classic quality rare brew to celebrate the turn of the century in the Holy Land.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Cola dark to black colour, moderate beige head. Sourish aroma of black rye bread and sourdough bread, hints of burnt caramel. Smooth mouthfeel and flavour, notes of lightly roasted malts and dark bread, not too sweet, low bitterness.

Bottle from Craft Beer Cellar Belmont, I thought it was a new country tick.
Dark brown with a tightly bubbled tan head that persists. Light earthy roast with light caramel and wet cardboard. Not bad.

Dark brown with glimmers of ruby; forms a frothy cappuccino head, with decent retention for the style, a minute or so, before retreating to a rim.
Aroma of cola, dark roast malt, coffee, molasses.
Dark roast malt comes through, clean and balanced. Strong sense of cola, though not nearly as sugary, and a mild not of 60% chocolate. A touch creaminess almost like lactose. Manages an off-dry finish, with medium carbonation and body. Very sessionable. No discernible hops, leaving the malts to shine.
I'd take this lager over mainstream ones any day. Crisp, yet "warm" tasting, balanced, not too sugary, flavourful without wearing out the palate.

I initially drank this beer for a New Beer Sunday thread where I don't like to look into the beer too much before drinking it so as to not bias myself. So this just represents my thoughts when only knowing that it was a "Dark" beer of some sort according to the label. I really enjoyed it and here's what I wrote.
It gives forth a big frothy head that sticks around a while and is a deep, dark, amber brown that lets only a hint of reddish light though. Thick and clingy lacing continues even when the head settles down to just a film. The nose is big roasty malts with some coffee and chocolate overtones. Blind I would likely guess this was an oatmeal stout. Taste follows suit with a subtle and very pleasant sweetness. Again, it's very stout like but the mouthfeel is very different. Much thinner and crisper than a stout with an impressively clean finish that pulls it much closer to the realm of a Schwarzbier. Just a hint of bitterness on the back end.
This is an absolutely delicious beer that is hugely drinkable despite it's dark and heavy appearance. I'll be interested to do some more research into this brewery.

Poured a dark brown color with a 1 finger head in a Pilsner glass. Carbonation bubbles on the bottom.
Excellent aroma: fruit, fig, dark malt.
Medium body, light carbonation.
Taste: fruit, fig, malt.
Overall: quite good, and better than some American Bocks. I especially like the aroma and medium body. The brewery has a lot of potential and should brew a coffee beer due to its proximity to excellent coffee.

Tried it for the first time in Jerusalem.
Looks dark and tasty in the glass, translucent, like a porter. Low carbonation and not much head. Smells of fresh chocolate malt and hops, very nice, invites you to taste. Tastes of chocolate malt, subtly sweet, mildly hoppy, and very balanced. Mouthfeel is medium, not watery and very pleasant. All the flavors merge and compliment each other wonderfully. Filling. I was pleasantly surprised. I could tell it was a German style dark ale. Would drink it again.
