On draught at the Hart and Thistle in downtown Halifax, which overlooks the harbor. Enjoyed with a plate of mussels and calamari.

Poured into a Granite nonic. When it settles, what remains is a clear amber-copper brew with a hefty creamy head that lasts throughout the pint and produces sheets of lacing. Looks like a cream ale though a nitro tap.

Nose is toast, caramel, toffee, dry English tea-like hops, a bit of fruit.

Tasty English strong ale. Malty, cracker, bread, caramel, toffee, and a long dry tea hop finish.

Creamy mouthfeel, mild bodied - carbonation is low here, again giving it a cream ale feel.

Very nice brew in the English style, which suited the old Halifax harborfront vista laid out before me.

A ruby red with ver little carbonation, no real head or lace but nice color

S a little nutty caramel

T some burnt brown sugar on top of what I smell, a little raisin and bread with some very faint chocolate

M a little flat but not too bad and a little silky

D I'd have another glass, decent flavors and worthy of a session

Brought this back from Halifax for hoser and he was nice enough too share it with me thanks dude

Lots of foamy head that follows you right to the bottom, lacing all the way. The beer itself has a nice dark red colour to it.

The smell was sweet and had hints of honey in it, and a sweet / demerara rum.

The taste is sweet, but at the back of the tongue is where it feels like it's registering. It also has a burnt sugar / creme brulee / sponge toffee quality to it, but that's just a subtle component. Not bitter.

Creamy, smooth feel. Could have a bit more carbonation for my liking... I know it's a draught on tap, but I like a bit of fizz.

Quite drinkable.

a: deep copper brown in color with a khaki head that starts nice and recedes slowly to leave nothing behind

s: fruity malts - mostly raisin and brown sugar, yeasty esters with a mineral component, lightly hopped

m: light cask carbonation and a light-medium body

t: quite nice, malty body without a heavy feel, brown sugar and raisin flavors, fruity esters from the ringwood yeast, mildly hopped with only a subtle bitterness

d: easy

A-Slightly hazy deep copper with a medium light tan head that hung around reduced slightly and left decent lace.

S-Light caramel malt and a bit of herbal/fruity hop aroma from the Fuggles.

T-Rich, sweet caramel malt and the herbal/fruity bite of the Fuggles. Tasty with notes of toffee and mild chocolate flavours becomng present upon warming. Finished rather dry.

M-Medium to medium-heavy with long lasting caramel flavours. This one is rather thick and chewy.

D-A very drinkable beer. Plenty of body and flavours to keep you entertained. A nice beer to quaff sitting fireside on a cold winters night.

I had this beer at the brewpub in Halifax. Color was amber with very thin and sticking foam layer.

Smell was light caramellic and fruity with a nice hoppiness.

Taste was comparable with the other lighter colored beers from the brewpub, meaning caramellic and fruity with a nice English hop aroma, like Fuggles. This beer was different in alcohol content and bitterness, more of both. This still delivered a very drinkable beer, which is slightly sticky.
