Received as a Christmas present from Globetrotterette, the standard brown half liter bottle features a brown and red lable displaying a small castle symbol above the name. Ingredients include sugar. Best before 2/18/07, I opened it on 12/26/06.
Pours a solid slightly cloudy amber under a one finger white head that fades quickly to film but leaves a thick sticky collar generating some nice lace strings. There is a mild malt nose with a hint of metal. The mouth is light and very prickly. Pretty non-descript taste - certainly not offensive, but hardly exciting. A bit of malt, more metallic hops, which dominate the aftertaste. Alcohol is also well represented. Meh.

Almost every country brewing beer hides a gem ... and this seems to be the gem of Slovakia.
Amber color, citric and wooden aromas and a taste of dark wood, roasted lamb with hints of blackberries
A great beer, somewhere in the triangle of Lager, German Alt and English Ale ...
