Globetrotterette managed to find this at an international market in Vienna, and gave it to me for Christmas. Standard brown half liter bottle with a red and gold label featuring a castle symbol above the name and a lot of writing below that I take it to describe how the brewery was founded in 1873. Sugar is listed as an ingredient. Best before 4/15/07, I opened it on 12/27/06.
Pours a clear slightly orange gold under a one finger off-white head that fades fairly quickly to film and collar, leaving a few lace strings along the way. Weak nose doesn't really offer much of anything. The mouth is quite light and well carbonated. Standard euro lager taste, not bad but certainly not great. The malt is well subdued, while the hops are metallic and fairly harsh, although certainly not strong. A bit of sweet fruitiness flashes through, but fades as quickly as it arrives. One of a thousand of its kind, it's little better than acceptable. Yawn.
