Rotbier is a tap-only special from Cosaco. This is a lovely, truly red Lager, served into a pint glass with a small but solid head. Smells of caramel, and toasted grains.
The taste is heavily biased toward a toasted bread, roasted nuts sort of character. It's very intense, but balanced, not overpowering. Just enough sweetness after this to compensate the drink, and a very subtle hop taste in the background. Moderate carbonation and refreshing, medium mouthfeel.
A very pleasant surprise indeed, and a truly unique lager.
