A: Straw yellow, lots of carbonation, white foam but no head.

S: Skunk even though it came in a can, Corona Extra is what it reminds me of most. Light watery beer with a tinge of malt.

T: Light watery beer, Corona, soda water with a slight SOL taste or that Sweedish one, Skol- with bone marrow extract taste, or animal offal.

M: Watery body with Soda water high carbonation.

O: Not much to write home about this one. It is not retired in spite of rumor. This one was produced a month before I bought it, drank two months after production.

Another find from Moscow’s biggest discount grocer, this one comes in a clear 33 cl bottle with a grey and blue label featuring a gothic monastery above the name. Ingredients include rice. Best before 3/7/06, I opened it on 10/15/05.

Pours a watery pale yellow under a one finger white head that fades quickly to film, but then lingers as such for a respectable interval. No lacing. The nose is bready with a touch of fruity sweetness and a bit of a metallic spice. The mouth is extremely well carbonated and very light – think tonic water. Not much taste here, sticking to the water theme. There’s a bit of grain and a not insignificant bitter spice bite in the finish, leaving a slightly dry aftertaste. Not horrible, but pretty close.
