Bottle-conditioned with unusually very heavy sediment, store/handle for the pour you favour.
L- Effectively black, though when held to a halogen bulb I see a glimmer of ultra-dark ruby amongst the black. Pours with 4-5mm ultra-fine deep tan head that holds extrememly well and forms much lacing down the sides of the glass.
S- Toasty, the cooled log ashes in a fireplace, and a subtle hint of coffee/cocoa.
T- Toasty (deep roasted), espresso coffee with hints of smoke.
F- The ^pungent flavour draws focus to the relatively thin mouthfeel. Hence I notice a quite bitter/dry edge that's not really to my taste.
O- Pungent flavour, with rather thin and bitter mouth-feel. This is 4.5%, I wonder how it would taste if it were say 6>6.5%? Would the added% amp up the Feel to better align with the robust flavour... ? As is the bitter edge isn't working for me. I can certainly fiish this pint but wouldn't buy it again.
500ml bottle BB: 24/06/20 Bought from convenience shop at Norwich staion.
