Bottle brought home by visiting son, poured into a modified tulip glass.
Interestingly the date code was "best by" format of 2015 - 08.
A - Deep honey color, clear as a bell, gentle carbonation leads to a white cap.
The cap dissipates leaving a ring of froth the clings to the glass.
S - Ripe fruit guava, banana, honey and warm orange rime. Beautiful aroma,
a mystery component that has a yeast of Abbey Ales quality to it.
T - Dark wheat, honey, hint of clove, and candied lemon skins. Warming brings out some fruity esters, light brown sugars. Amazing that this is there white beer, as it is sweet and has a honey thread that runs through all the flavors.
M - Medium bodied, starts out a little oily, the little carbonation can't clean the
palate. The coating clings to the edges of of the tongue, lingering quite some time. The coating leaves a honey drop candy like calling card for the next sip.
O - A very nice change, the White label is challenged in the best ways. The sweetness is not off putting, and indeed may well be the beers most compelling quality.
So glad to have tried this.

Bottle-conditioned in a slim 330ml brown bottle - rather small for a German weizen but quite suitable in size for a Belgian witbier! Not knowing which style this beer purports to be (no indication as such is given on the label), I chose to serve it lightly chilled and cloudy in a large Burgundy bulb wine glass. Bottled date: 24/07/2007; BB : 24/01/2008.

A: cloudy and murky dark amber topped with a fast retreating white spongey head and rather moderate carbonation. The colour tells me it might be a weizen.
S: semi-sharp citrus fruits come with a quite rich flow of melted barley candy, grilled sugar-cane, and caramely malts; lightly sour-sweet banana-ish and passion-fruit-like fruit esters come rather subdued underneath, while spiciness is even more muted. Overall, the maltiness dominates at the expense of complexity - a slight pity.
T: a semi-neutral but soothing flow of wheat-malts and caramel prevails upfront, then quickly bringing out very mild sour-sweet fruit esters (again, it's muted but mixed here: mangos, citrus, bananas, and some pears even...), grassy hoppiness, chewy+powdery yeastiness, with a little clove-ish spicy touch lingering... until a soothing (slightly dryish) aftertaste fades out at the rear. This is definitely a weizen-style ale; very "yeasty" overall, but not complex enough to fit in with the style.
M&D: the mouthfeel is refreshing at first, then somehow loses momentum and turns a bit thin towards the finish; but overall the performance is decent indeed against the solid body. Where the aroma lacks to make an aromatic weizen, the flavour and mouthfeel make up for it. Prost to North Taiwan!
