The aroma is caramel malt and grassy hops. The taste is like the aroma. The appearance is copper with almost no head. The palate is soft from carbonation. Overall east drinking but the lack of a head is an issue.

Poured from a can into a pilsner glass.
Look: Redish-brown with thick offwhite head. Fair head retention, but modtly poor lacing.
Smell: Spicy hop bitterness upfront. Some gentle melt sweetness in the back. Fruity and sour like pineapple.
Taste: Rustic. A little sour. Dough. Some hop bitterness to round it out.
Feel: Medium body with enough carbonation.
Overall: This is almost good enough to stand on its own, but it's just a tad bit simple. Overall enjoyable.

A half liter can from the Costco Biergarten assortment December 2025 at 45 F. Big foamy head and nice amber body. I thought it was slightly lacking in body, but my wife loved it. So slight ratings bump.

Name: Georg Rittmayer Kellerbier
Brewery: Brauerei Gasthof Rittmayer
Location: Hallerndorf, Germany
Style: Kellerbier
ABV: 5%
Canned: Unknown Best Before July 2026
Date: 16 November 2025
Prying the can, and an eruption of beer came forth, followed by a few curse words. I am using a mug and serving the beer at 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy, creamy, two-fingered head with exceptional retention. The slow dissipation left lacing chunks on the glass. The color is medium amber with light mahogany hues, SRM 14, and is clear. The beer's overall appearance is above average for this style.
Nosing the beer, I detect notes of light caramel, lightly toasted malts, floral esters, a grassy note, bay leaves, resin, mineral, and malty sweetness.
The flavors start with light toasted bread, floral and grassy lightly toasted malts, resin, herbal, light caramel, and malty sweetness.
The mouthfeel is slightly astringent, finishing crisp and clean. The body is medium-light and medium-plus-carbonation.
Final Thought: The lagering on this beer is clean with a bit of malty depth and some hop presence. I enjoy sipping on this beer.

Clear dark amber-brown brew with long-lasting foam in the Widmer Weizen glass. Taste is slightly sweet. Pleasantly sudsy with the usual lively German mouthfeel. Taste is cereal with a dose of black tea. Grainy finish with a modest bitter aftertaste like a decent hoppy lager, but not too hoppy. Flavors of roasted malt with hints of orange and grape. Quite pleasant and quaffable if unexceptional brew, but better somehow than so many American beers in the German styles. From the 500 ml can from the Costco pack.

Clear copper pour, tight khaki head that leaves the party alittle early. Nose shares malt and herbs.
Taste shares fresh dark bread, herbs, medium kilned malt, sweet earthiness. Mouthfeel is medium. Finish brings an herbal spiciness that bookends the beer quite nicely.

Pours a surprisingly dark amber color but transparent with moderate foam that leaves persistent lacing. Smell is malt, grain and floral hops. Fitting the color, the flavor starts with caramel malt with hops coming on to partly, but only partly, balance the malt toward the end. Body is a little fuller, befitting the dark malt content, with a little carbonation. Overall this is a very smooth drinking beer with nice flavor if you prefer malt.

Brauerei Rittmayer Hallerndorf GMBH& CO. KG "Georg Rittmayer Kellerbier"
500 ml can coded "BEST BEFORE: 07/2025". Sampled on 1 November 2024
$59.99 / 24 can case - Costco's Biergarten Collection, Costco, Christiana, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: Translated, the label reads "amber in color, malty, and Franconian", and it is certainly amber. I'll even call it dark copper. It's clear, and the head is a thumb's width of rocky off-white foam. In the nose I'm finding caramelish malt and a hint of spiciness. It's clean and welcoming but not that bright, and certainly not complex. That's OK, let's give it a taste. Well, as you may have expected it's caramelish. Grainy and caramelish with a light touch of apple. It's on the sweet side but not too sweet, and there is a little bit of bitterness to balance it and let it finish dry with some emerging floral and herbal hop notes. It might be a little one-sided but it's hard to argue with; this is a beer that you could drink everyday. In the mouth it's medium bodied with a gentle caress on the tongue, and then smooth. The head held up well and it's left some very nice lacing about the glass. All in all it's not the greatest, but it's also far from the worst.
