Hazy brown. Malty and light roasty aroma and flavor with a bit of nutty character. Decent balance but leans a bit sweet. Fairly light bodied with a light nutty finish.

Has a really nice dark amber appearance with a thick lasting head.
Aroma is a nice hit of grain, toasted rye and buckwheat toast. Malt is really nice and interesting as it doesn't come off raw or roasted.
Taste was almost identical to aroma with some very mild sweetness.
Overall it was a really nice unique beer

Poured from a can into a hefeweizen glass.

Look: Light brown color. Hazy. Thin head, but I poured slowly. Poor head retention, but great lacing.

Smell: Milk chocolate. There a spice note to my nose. Caramel.

Taste: Darker malt. Malt forward. Caramel.

Feel: Velvety mouthfeel. Medium body. Great fizz.

Overall:fizzy. Great beer.

Brauerei Gasthof Rittmayer "Georg Rittmayer Hausbrauerbier"
500 ml can "BEST BEFORE 07/2026". Sampled on 29 October 2025
$59.99 / 24 can - Costco's Biergarten Collection, Costco, Christiana, DE

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a hazy deep chestnut brown beneath a tall head of yellowed khaki colored foam. The aroma is nutty and bready with some fairly indiscernible hops in the background. The taste delivers a lightly sweet, caramelish, nutty, bready, and softly cocoa-ish maltiness. It's not particularly bitter, and the breadiness lingers in the finish before fading to leave only toastiness behind. There are some hops there as well but I'm still having a hard time pinpointing exactly what they are. There's definitely some spiciness to them, and some floral and herbal character as well. If I had to guess I'd go with Tettnanger. It's nicely balanced with the hops playing against the soft dark maltiness, and the moderate bitterness is just enough to balance the sweetness of the malts. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the lighter end, and gently crisp and then smooth across the tongue. It's not my favorite style of beer but it's hard to knock. I accept the haziness, and the head retention and lacing were OK. Smelling it now that it's warmed I'm getting more hops in the aroma, but I don't know if I like that better or not, I'll just leave it as is. The balance is good, as is the mouthfeel, and it's certainly enjoyable. Nicely done.

I'm not a fan of wheat or malt taste in beer, but this is milder than some. It's ok.

Light brown pour, steady tan head. Nose us toasted wheat bread.

Taste sees roasted grain, light banana, nibble of coco, medium (leaning dark) kilned malt, floral notes. Light yo medium mouthfeel. Finish show a redux: wheat toast with a chocolate banana spread, not yo sweet.

I am going back to the Costco box for this next beer. I am using a Weizen glass and serving the beer at 46 degrees. The pour created a frothy, foamy, two-fingered, light tan head with exceptional retention. The somewhat slow dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The color is dirty brown with an amber hue, charting at SRM 16, and semi-transparent. The overall appearance of the beer is above average for this style.
Nosing the beer, I smell dark roasted malt, bready, caramel, bananas, phenols, a light floral note, and subtle earthiness.
I taste toasted malt, earthy, toasted bread, floral, phenolic, bananas, and some chocolate.
The mouthfeel is coating, finishing slightly thick. The body is medium with medium carbonation.
Final Thought: Thus far, this is one of the better beers in this Costco box, which is the third one, so far. I hope there are a few more good ones to enjoy.

From the Costco 24x Biergarten box.
Light cola brown with generous lacing, off white head. Has glass appeal.
Delicious roasted malt nicely balanced with hops
Lively in the mouth.

I would buy this again.

Dark coppery amber brew with abundant foam in the Maredsous goblet. Some straw in the aroma and roasted grain. Very pleasant sudsy mouthfeel. This is a milder sort of Dunkelweizen with very little of the spicy flavors. Tastes of roasted malt and a little sweetness in the malt. Grainy finish with a flicker of flowery hops and caramel in the aftertaste. From the 500 ml can purchased in the Costco German beer case. "Best Before 07/2026."

From the pint can in the 2025 Biergarten Collection from Costco, it pours a slightly hazy mahogany color with a very nice off-white / light tan head that lasts. Lacing. The nose gets a bit of caramel and grass. The mouth gets a pleasant toasted malt brew with notes of caramel.
