A nose with fine notes of fresh baked breads and sweet malt. Overall, a very fruit-forward profile with a finishing note of subtle hops.

500ml can from Costco's Biergarten Collection mixed 24-pack picked up in Missoula, MT
Poured into a Fat Head's nonic pint
P brilliant crystal clear gold w/ almost 1f of foamy white head; quick recession
N fairly bold and inviting sweet grassy and floral notes
T sweet grassy notes over moderately hearty crackery malt; finishes w/ earthiness, mineral notes, and a lingering sweetness from the forward; light nectarine throughout as well; pretty tasty
Mf med to med full (full for style) and a bit sticky, surprisingly; med carb level
O a really solid bock, imo; would happily have again

Georg Rittmayer Bock 6.8% half liter can out of fall 2025 Costco mixed box, from refrigerator poured into a small glass. Healthy deep gold body and decent white head that doesn't leave lacing. Character of a Maibock. Decent body, modest alcohol tang, and a good bitter, alcohol aftertaste. I would have preferred some additional malt body, but this is a pretty decent strong lager.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass.
Look: Thick offwhite head. Orange-yellow color. Fair head retention and great lacing.
Smell: Malt forward. Semi-sweet. Yeasty. Cracker. Citrus. There's a very light spice note, like white pepper or something.
Taste: Right off the bat the flavor is much more mellow than the nose. It's still semi-sweet. The citrus note is there, but the malty character is turned down and the yeastyness is allowed to take over. That malt note then shows up on the finish, along with even more citrus.
Feel: Medium-thick, velvety mouthfeel. Fair carbonation.
Overall: A very solid beer worthy of being enjoyed on it's own.

Clear gold. Nice malty bready aroma and flavor. Nice balance with no hops and light sweetness. Medium bodied and clean; smooth and sessionable.

Crystal clear amber brew with abundant foam in the Tuborg Pilsner glass. Inviting aroma of cereal and pears. Substantial body with plenty of spritz on the tongue. Quite rich and malty with a distinct sweetness. Flavors are fruity and mellow. This is a good example of the Bock style and highly drinkable. Finish is dry cider and quite delicious in the aftertaste as the tangy notes rise and the sweetness fades. From the 500 ml can. All the details are noted by others.

Name: Georg Rittmayer Bock Beer
Brewery: Brauerei Gasthof Rittmayer
Location: Hallerndorf, Germany
Style: Doppelbock
ABV: 6.8%
Canned: Unknown Best Before July 2026
Date: 05 Nov 2025
The next German beer is a Doppelbock. I am seeing a trend; thus far, the beers have been by similar breweries. I am not complaining, but it is interesting. I am using a tulip glass and serving the beer at 48 degrees. The pour created a frothy, creamy, foamy, two-fingered, off-white head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left bits of lacing on the glass. The beer is amber with straw yellow hues, clear, and has an SRM of 6. The beer's appearance is tempting; however, I expected it to be darker.
Nosing the beer, I detect notes of bread, lightly toasted malts, floral esters, subtle, fruity sweetness, light herbal notes, and grassy notes.
The flavors start with grain-forward, lightly toasted malts, and a floral bouquet. Sipping the beer again, I notice bread, grassy, fruity sweetness, light phenol, banana, and a hint of cloves.
The mouthfeel is slightly astringent, finishing a tad spicy. The body is medium-light and medium-carbonated.
Final Thought: I don't know what to think of this beer. I was expecting it to have a stronger maltiness overall. I was not expecting the hops, with a touch of banana and clove, finishing with a light phenolic touch. It is okay, I wanted so much more.

Part of the Costco Biergarten Collection - 16.9 ounce can - BEST BEFORE 08/2026.
Appearance: Pours a clear, dark golden body with a couple inches of white suds that steadily peter out like a just-poured soda.
Smell: Sweetish, grainy nose with a sliver of appleskin fruitiness present.
Taste: Sweet-grainy with a slight bready hint for an overall honeyed opening. Light fruit accent. Lightly floral hops, minimally bitter. Its sweetness is sustained through the finish with a merest blip of alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: I'm not overly enamored with this one. A bit sweet and languid.

Brauerei Gasthof Rittmayer "Georg Rittmayer Bock Beer"
500 ml can "BEST BEFORE 08/2026". Sampled on 30 October 2025
$59.99 / 24 can - Costco's Biergarten Collection, Costco, Christiana, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: What kind of bock will this beer? And why is a bock from Germany labeled as "BOCK BEER" rather than Bockbier? OK, let's see... it's a helles bock. The body is clear and deep golden-orange, and the head is a two-finger thick cap of white foam. The aroma is sweetly malty and lightly fruity. The taste delivers sweetish grain, bread, apple, and dark-skinned fruits. It's backed by a stiff bitterness that leads to a mainly dry finish with some residual malt and fruitiness lingering. In the mouth it's full bodied and gently crisp. The head held up well but the lacing is just OK. How strong is this? It's 6.8% which isn't really enough to kill the head so I'll keep that in mind while scoring it. It's a little fruity but not as bad as some that I've recently sampled, and some fruitiness is certainly OK. I'll call it worth trying for sure.

I don't care for the bock style or malt flavor. It's drinkable but not one I would want more of.

Clear gold pour, decent white head that retreats. Nose is bready malt.
Taste brings a fairly full malt bill, bready, little caramel, little floral. Mouthfeel is fairly full and oily. Finish is lightly fruity and malty.

From the pint can in the 2025 Biergarten Collection from Costco, it pours a clear amber color with a surprisingly modest head that soon diminishes to a ring. The nose is malty, the mouth is malty and it is well balanced.
