A: Pours light copper color, good sized head, good lacing down the glass
S: Smell is sweet and malty, lots of biscut scents in there. There are some hoppy scents, you can tell they are there but not overbearingly so.
T: Caramel and biscut maltiness, fairly sweet. Followed by a nice crisp hop aftertaste
M: Carbonation is right on not too light, not too heavy
D: I don't think many people will stick up for this brewery for "selling out" however I go by what I smell and taste. What I smell and taste tells me that this is an excellent pale ale. I have not had a pale this well balanced out in quite some time. Would for sure get this again.

Poured from 12oz bottle a clear medium gold with a small head of foam that disappeared quickly.

The smell is delicate but I note some malty sweetness and some hoppiness.

The taste has some good hoppy notes on first sips..I can taste some citrus and some grass. The malt is pretty mild but it *is* there helping to make for a good balance. Not a bad APA if you're in the mood for something that is tasty and smooth...

Bottom line: This is a good Pale Ale that's worth trying.

I picked up a six-pack of Metolius Brookie Pale Ale at a grocery store to taste, review and enjoy. I poured this beer in to a pint tumbler.

Pours a rich gold color and is clear. A bubbly two-finger head forms, and dissipates quickly to a thin film on the surface of the beer. The head produces moderate lacing on the sides of the glass while drinking.

The smell is typical of a pale ale, a mild hoppy evergreen scent, and some fruity esters. There is a little malted grain aroma.

The taste is a malt presence up front, followed by a mildly bitter hop finish

The mouth feel is light, crisp and clean, perhaps just a little on the watery side.

This is a very drinkable beer, and a refreshing one at that. It would be good any time, but especially on a hot day. As pales go this one is a solid representation of the style, and I would certainly have it again.

Sixer bought at an Albertson's in Spokane for $5.99.

Poured a dark gold color, with a generous off-white head. Stayed fairly foamy throughout. Modest lacing.

Smell is rather hoppy. Don't detect any malt in the smell. This seems like a low-power IPA. Needs more maltiness for balance.

Taste starts off with a citrusy hoppy bitterness. Then a bit of maltiness comes in, but it's too deep in the background to be a decent pale. Ironically, it's not hoppy enough to be a true IPA. This beer seems like an unfinished American - style pale ale.

This a medium bodied beer, with an acceptable amount of carbonation for the style.

Despite it's flaws, it's fairly drinkable, but it's nothing worth seeking out if it isn't on sale. There are many pales out there that are more worthy of your money.

Ok after some research learnt this "brand" Metolius is the Albertson's house brand brewed by Portland Brewery.
Ok comes in a 12 oz brown bottle..pic of a "brookie" trout jumping on label.
The beer itself is respectable enough looking ..nice clear amber clour with a small white head..a little lacing.
Good fresh malty aroma..quite pleasant.
Tatse ius sweet malts to begin then later a nice spicy hoppiness appears.
Quite average on the palate..too watery and thin.
Drinkable enough ..but for the price of other better pales why would you bother?
