I keep a few bottles in the front part of my fridge for less-discriminating guests -- drinkable IPA, but nothing noteworthy here. Slight battery acid taste -- in a not-entirely-offensive way. I'm surprised that it's a Pyramid brew... tasted like one of the big boys passing off their usual ware as a "craft beer". They really phoned this one in.

Poured into my Zatec fluted glass. Very little head, but some nice sticky lacing. Solid amber color. Smelled prevalently of honey, resin, and a light citrus smell. Tastes strongly of honey. Light hop bite for an IPA. A bit of citrus. Light carbonation. Finishes slightly bitter. Not a bad beer overall. Good value, especially considering it comes from Pyramid.

Poured an orange-gold color with a small white head. Nose is grainy, malts, citrus and floral. Taste is malts, grains and slight hop bite on the end. Mouthfeel is bitter. This is an average IPA at best. I will not buy again bt glad I tried this brew.

Clear amber colored beer with a small white head.

Smell is biscuit and herbal and floral hops. Little bit spicy with a trace of eucalyptus. Basically no citrus aromas here.

Taste starts out sweet with a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. Mostly herbal in taste it is quite mild and really more of a Pale Ale. Not a lot of complexities here though.

Mouthfeel is average.

Certainly easy to drink this might be too mild to really be an AIPA.

05/24/07- Purchased at Bottleworks in Seattle, WA.

Presentation- 12oz bottle with no freshness info. Poured into a standard pint glass.

Appearance- Medium to pale golden colored pour. 1/2 inch head at pour which leaves a light ring. Light streaks of lace are to be found.

Smell- Pine hops over grapefruit with a buscuit-bready malt nose.

Taste- Just as much, if not more bready and caramely malt , than hops. Hops are pine acscented with a medium bitterness and mildly fruity.

Mouthfeel- Medium carbonation and a bit thin or watery in the swallow.

Drinkability- Nothing to see here, run of the mill IPA, please move on.

Poured into a pounder glass it forms an eggshell white head that is firm and leaves ring lacing all the way down. Light and filtered copper body that has an orange tint to it. Good looking brew.

This is what I would call a run of the mill IPA. What I mean by that is that it hits the marks and doesn't have any glaring flaws but it fails to distinguish itself at all. Grapefruite citrusy hops are actually balanced out somewhat by a breaded malt profile. Body is thin but it makes up for it with a drying hop snap towards the finish. Not all that clean but not bothersome either.

Notes: Hard to make heads or tails of this offering. On one hand I found it to be interestingly balanced, on the other hand I found it jumbled without focus. Maybe I'm the one confused but at the end of the day I won't pick this up anytime soon.

I picked up a six-pack of Metolius Cutthroat IPA at a grocery store to taste, review and enjoy. I poured this beer in to a pint tumbler.

Pours an orange copper color and is slightly hazy. A bubbly three-finger head forms, and dissipates rather rapidly for an IPA.. The head produces moderate lacing on the sides of the glass while drinking.

The smell is typical of an IPA, a hoppy evergreen scent, and some fruity esters. There is a little malted grain aroma.

The taste is also typical of an American IPA. Citrus flavors dominate, grapefruit and lemon, with a little malt presence and a bitter aftertaste.

The mouth feel is light and clean, perhaps a bit syrupy.

This is a drinkable beer, and an average representation of the style. Not the best IPA to be had, and I think there are better at this price point.

Appearance: pours a crytsal clear golden yellow color with a thick fluffy 3" head. Nice lacing develops. A few carbonation bubbles slowly rise from the base of the glass.

Smell: grapefruit and pine are easily detectable.

Taste: mild malt base here with strong pine bitterness, grapefuit, and pears. A bit sweet, but the bitterenss and grapefruit bring it back to balance.

Mouthfeel: crisp throughout. Pine and citrus linger briefly into the aftertaste. Medium bodied.

Drinkability: A pretty esay drinking beer here. This is worthy of picking some of this up.

Ok another in a seemingly unending flow of contract brews from Portland Brewing..dont really expect much, here goes.
Typical Metolius label this time its a Cutthroat Trout jumping.

Actually it not a bad looking beer when poured into the glass, light orange good carbonation strings and an attractive creamy off white head.
Aroma isnt that bad either..sure can detect the hops..quite spicy indeed.
Nice light IPA here in taste..the spicy /citric hoppiness is nice and theres a bit of malt too..this really is just over the border from a typical American Pale.
The mouthfeel lets it down ..being very watery but i cant say its unpleasant.
A surprise..a nice drinkable lightweight IPA..though for the price i can get far better.
