Its not every day it takes until the end of 2019 to add a beer to the database that won Silver in 1995 at the World Beer Championships. But today is that day.
Pours a darker color with brown and dark red as the coloring with a light off white head 1/3" deep. Right away it was one of the hoppier winter beers I had, whereas Samuel Smith's (my entry one) was smooth, more amber, lighter, this was more full bodied similar to Celebration Ale with a taste very similar to the Cascade, Chinook and Centennial blends. The styrian golding dry hopping is something you just didn't and still don't see all too often, if ever outside of this example.
That hoppiness continued into the taste mixing caramel, toffee, nuttiness and C hoppiness all into the taste buds. At only 5.6% it was one of the first beers with major flavor that didn't involve getting majorly wasted. A maltier but dry mouth feel and finish made this a beer to look forward to every year. Came in a blue colored package.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
