On-tap at the Victory Cafe in Toronto.
A: Bronze, off-white head, very little retention, some lace.
S: Plenty of aroma; variety of hops (citrus/lemon, grass & spice).
T: Spicy, citrusy hops, biscuity malt, crisp bitterness, slightly earthy. I don't know what hops their using, but there's some interesting flavours (not in your face american pine & citrus).
M: Moderate body and carbonation.
D: Quite good.

Sampled a pint at Volo, the night after the release party.
Presents a rather dark colour, more amber than anything. Lots of froathy head, some lacing. Strong bouquet of hops almost drowned out by an equal presence of malt. Body holds itself, again, lots of hops but a big malt backing too. Ample hop bitterness. I'm sorry to say that my impressions of this beer weren't great. It certainly is a good pint, but it's just not put together right. It has all the elements of a great IPA, but I shouldn't be able to taste them each individually as such, they should be blended together. I taste the generous hops, I taste the big malt, I taste the nice, cold water... but all apart from eachother. I just didn't feel it came together like others did...
I'll likely revisit.

Wow! Finally an Ontario IPA has emerged to challenge Sgt. Major.
This was a full pint at Smokeless Joe. Poured a nice orangey-gold with a good sized head, at the perfect temperature.
Aroma would be standard for a good American-brewed IPA, but was a surprise and a pleasure here in Canada. Sharp hops, dry grapefruit and lemon, with hints of dry wood.
Taste was pleasantly bitter without being abrasive, exactly what I like in an IPA. Citrus flavours reign here, and the pine-needle aroma and flavour of many American IPAs isn't there (which is fine).
I liked this a lot, although I'd have to try it again (preferably many times!) before I can say whether it has surpassed the Sargeant. Would be great on cask.

Surprisingly good IPA at Smokeless Joe's. Though no smell detected, there is a definite grapefuit colour, good head, and taste here. Very drinkable well balanced though on bitter and juicy side. By jove, a good IPA and I think the best I have had in Ontario.

Damn. Now this is an authentic American hop fest. Their lager being so lackluster, I was expecting an IPA in name only.
It pours a ruby amber color, dark for the style. The eggshell head is modest and leaves simple lace webs behind. Aromas of resiny, citrusy bitter hops and fresh cut grass mingle with a light malt base. The taste is full on resiny, deciduous hops. I love it! Thick swathes of citrusy hop bitterness battle with pine, floral and herbal hop flavors for supremacy. Understated bready malts sit in the background, never bothering to go head to head with all the hop flavors. The finish is long and very bitter. The mouthfeel is medium and subtly carbonated. A coating of lupulin stays in my mouth forever.
The brewer said Tettnanger, Cascade and (I believe) Goldings were used. This is an interesting international blend that really works. Stellar IPA. Its beers like this that give me great hope in the Ontario craft brewing scene.

Pours a clear red/orange, thick off white head forms, lace, great retention. Smell is sweet, some pine and citrus, toffee, grainy, some chocolate. Taste is pine hops up front, some floral and grapefruit, little bit of toffee, chocolate malt through the middle, clean bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Quite nice, the high hopping surprised me, wasn't expecting much, the malt was done nicely, and it was nice to drink, I would session.
Talked to Doug at St. Andre and this is around 6.3%. Volo has kegs of it so go up and get some, its worth it. Best example of an IPA Ontario has to offer.
