Had from the brewpub on Saturday. I asked the waitress/bartender what style it was because I didn't remember seeing it here. She gave a vague "it's not really light but not dark, and kinda hoppy." I decided to sample it then try it. Enjoyed the beer and innitially thought it might have been an IPA of DIPA.
Presented to me from the tap in a basic pint glass the beer was a bronze color with a half-finger of white head. Some lacing and spotty carbonation.
Smell was fresh and clean. A healthy dose of hop and pine with slight citrus and flowery esters.
The taste features hop flavors coming thru nicely balanced with a slightly malty finish. Some citrus undertones and despite is relatively low ABV, alcohol was cleary detected in the taste as well. Some reminders of Stone's pale ale, this was big on hop flavor but still balanced.
Medium body with about average carbonation. Crisp to the finish and slightly dry.
A very solid beer with some similarities to Stone and west coast pale ales. Hops dominate but balance is apparant and very easy to drink: well done.
