Pours a chill-hazed rust color (copperish brown) with a thin head that becomes a disappearing patch.
The smell is oaky - cognac-like with caramel-candy and gentle spicing (coriander?). Pleasant aroma.
The taste is of caramel-candy with vanilla and light spice (coriander?). Cognac and oak play in nicely. Alcohol pretty well-hidden. Sweet, but well-controlled. Woody, semi-dry finish.
It has a smooth, medium body with soft carbonation.
An interesting, tasty brew. The French brandy/cognac oak plays out nicely here.
Thanks to jcwattsrugger for giving me the opportunity to have this one!

Had at the Belgian Beer festival. Notes indicate this is aged in French Brandy/Cognac oak. Poured out a nice red amber with a tan head. The nose was spiced with cinnamon and ginger. sweet and fruity: apples and cranberries and a little strawberry. Taste is mustier than the smell, fruity (apple) and has a nice touch of sweetness. has a good natural and earthy taste to it. Body is certainly on the lighter side, but in a good way. Carbonation is low, decent balance.
