An interesting one here - blend of a Grand Cru and Russian Imperial Stout aged in pinot noire barrels...
Pours dark brown with a quickly disappearing head. This could certainly use better head retention.
The smell is of fruity wine with licorice and molasses. Oaky and rather acrid. Things aren't meshing so well here...
The taste is grapey/vinuous. Woody with vanilla notes. Black pepper spiciness gives it a certain kick. Slight toffee notes. A little too acidic. Many things going on here, but in so many different directions.
Medium-bodied and slightly astingent.
An interesting experiment, but one that doesn't work for me. It's rather "all-over-the-place" and too vinuous for me...
Didn't care for it, but glad I got to try it - Thanks jcwattsrugger.
