Alewife and I stopped into Stark/Milly's yesterday, specifically with the intention of trying this new bier. Served in a full shaker pint at $9.00. This is their regular Bo's aged in their own bourbon barrels.
The bier was a clear, deep chestnut-mahogany color, which was quite lovely. Head was off-white, light an sparse, with some light lacing. The aroma had malty sweetness, with brown sugar and light bourbon action. It was exceedingly smooth on the tongue, with a near-full, chewy body.
Flavor also had plentiful sweetness, but was never close to being cloying. Had good doses of caramel, caramelized brown sugar, and molasses in a rich, flavorful blend. Bourbon notes were present, but in a subtle, complementary fashion, not as a major player. We both really, really enjoyed this different take on Bo's. Great job, Paul Davis!! Prosit!!
