Visited Milly's last Saturday (30AUG08) with daughter Caitlin for some lunch. No Hopnoxius on tap, so I opted for this new offering.
Got a pint for $5.50, and it was a clear, deep-chestnut hued liquid, with real nice highlights at the edges. Head was creamy, fine and tan, though it thinned quickly. Lacing was very nice, sticking everywhere. Nose was a bit mild, with some candy-sugar, a smidge of fruit and sweetness being evident. The body here was easily medium-plus, the bier also being very smooth on the tongue with minimal prickliness.
Flavor leads off with it being lightly sweet, just a subtle touch. Suggestions of caramel lurk in the background, with the candy-sugar taking a more prominent role. A healthy dose of dark fruit notes hit the palate in a most-pleasant manner, and the finish, which is quite dry, exhibits a light hit of spiciness. The 9% abv is quite well hidden here. Had 2 pints with my burger; a fine repast.
Prosit!!
