Ploughman's is an English-style, malty, dark ale with a flavorful roasty character and a slight hint of cherries. The beer was aged for several weeks over 200 pounds of sweet and tart cherries giving it a subtle fruit flavor that melds well with its malt character.

Pours a solid dark brown bordering on black with a minimal tan head that actually leaves a bit of lace in its wake. Smells of chocolate and an almost medicinal cheery aroma for the most part. A bit of caramel and butter are faint in the background, but this one is mostly chocolate and ludens cough drops. Taste is lots of caramel, light chocolate, butter and a faint tart cherry taste. Medium body, light level of carbonation, earthy mineraly mouthfeel. I really wanted to rave about this one, but I just couldn't. The cherry flavor is barely there and what I do find is tart almost medicinal. Meh.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub with the brewer. A popular one, with cherry that adds to the taste but is not in your face cherry, rather it adds to make the character of a solid porter.Very dark brown, Lacey, unfiltered. Still tolerable sourness there.
