Was in Manchester today to enjoy daughter Colleen's graduation from Hesser College. Before heading home I swung by Milly's for a growler of Bo's. Perusing the menu, my eye was distracted by "Imperial IPA" on the menu. Hmmm... Ahhh reckon a bier with my growler could work... This one was listed as 1102 OG, 8.50% ABV, and 85 IBUs...
My glass was filled with a deep copper-hued liquid. It was clear, with steady carbo, and topped by a rich, creamy, fine tan head. The foam was healthy, and ebbed slowly to a solid layer. Lacing was top-shelf, as well. Nose was mild, with some caramel and citrus evident. Mouthfeel? Medium-plus for the body, almost chewy, and this DIPA was oh-so-smooth...
Flavor had plenty of malt, with light sweetness and caramel/toffee delights abounding. Soon thereafter, the hop action took effect. Rindy, resiny, piney... you get the drift. Strong citrus was present, and lasted quite well. Pithy notes linger in this offering which is rather like a good barlewine. Wish I had time for more than one glass, but I had to get home for the Scheister's party... Prosit!!

Welcome to Manchester!!! Arrived at Manchester airport for a 1/2 marathon over in New Market. Was picked up by my bro-in-law and quickly swept away to Milly's Tavern to begin our pre-race inebriation. The Manch Vegas Double or Nothing IPA is a very good beer!!! The color was a red copper with very little head and no lacing. There was citrus and hop with a waif of pine. The taste was very well balanced by citrus, pine, and malt against the heavy alcohol content. The mouthfeel was good could certainly chill with this beer!!!....the high ABV would be too much to try and session.
