This specialty batch is a slightly new take on an old recipe. For this robust porter, we added 50 pounds of world-famous Van Otis Chocolate to our kettle to produce a decadent dark ale with a clean, chocolate finish. Black and chocolate malts help marry the base malts to the rich chocolate undertone.

Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is jet black with a tall, light, foamy, chocolate milk colored head of around an inch that quickly settles into a filmy coating with a decent cling. Aromas of dark chocolate, with a dark mocha backbone and some creamy highlights. Flavors are dark and rich, with a dark roasted coffee backbone and some bitter cocoa nib tones blending together very nicely. The rich flavors still remain light in mouth, with a dark, bitter, slightly charred aftertaste. The finish is light, slightly bitter, and slightly lingering. Good beer!

Pours a solid black color with a smallish off white head that dissipates rather quickly, but does leave a fair amount of lace. Very sweet chocolate and caramel aroma. Smells like hershey's chocolate syrup and little else. Taste is exactly as advertised in the nose. Chocolate syrup and milk chocolate with a hint of caramel and little else. If you like chocolate this is the beer for you, its tasty if not a bit one dimensional. Medium to thick body, light level of carbonation, creamy sweet and sticky mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this beer, in fact it was the only one that I got seconds of. Its tasty in chocolatey kind of way.
