Served from a cask and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a muddled, opaque, mud brown coloring with a paper thin, dense, creamy off-white head. Aromas are subtle, with a light toffee backbone and some tangy, sour fruit notes. There is a touch of hickory smoke on the nose, too. Flavors are tangy and slightly sour, with tart fruit characteristiscs highlighting the smooth body. Hopping is extremely subtle, and there is a slight roasted and smokey overall feel. Great coating of film left on the glass. The aftertase has a touch of tart, but is mostly toffee sweet. Creamy, smooth finish. Interesting twist to add the smoke presence to the Bitter style.
