Wow, this was a big improvement over a mediocre Maibock. This lil’ baby came to the table in a pint glass (what’s the abv?), a deep oak mahogany capped by a small but lacey ivory head.

Nice notes of Belgium yeast and sugar cane, right on style – hell, plenty of dark fruit and molasses here. Great quaff of toasted malt with the previously mentioned Belgium Omni-presence.

Full bodied, rich and tasty. Now, this was fine outside drinking – enjoying life, conversation, and good beer.

Thin head without much lacing on a murky brownish orange body. Candy sugar, tropical fruit, caramel malt, resin ad toffee. Flavor is also fairly fruity wit caramel, brown and candy sugar, finished with molasses. Medium body and moderate carbonation, smooth with a semi dry finish. Nice representation of the style, easy to drink and flavorful matched well with the appropriate feel on the palate.

 

A - Poured an opaque, brown color with a small, tan head of pillowy foam. It left some soapy trails of lace.

S - It smelled of candy sugar and sweet caramel malt.

T - It tasted of sweet biscuity malt and sweet caramel. It had a boozy-like flavor, similar to bourbon.

M - It was soft and smooth. A medium-bodied ale.

D - This was really pretty good and I'm a big fan of dubbels.

A - Deep ruby crimson ...looks almost brownish purple until you see a little crimson light coming through. The head is small and reduces to a collar very quickly, but some really fine tan lace is left on the glass, and the color is mesmerizing.

S - Freshly painted wood, thick and juicy purple grapes, and fruity Laffy Taffy notes. Pungent hops really spice up the aroma, and I can smell lots of nice yeast too.

T - This one is extremely fruity and juicy. In fact, it reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum. There are some vinous grapey aspects to it that make it seem very lively and fun. Some darker cinnamon stick flavors come out towards the finish.

M - Lively prickly carbonation keeps the fruit flavors from becoming sugary, and the hop and alcohol astringency makes this one very focused and tight on the palate. The finish is completely neutral with absolutely no aftertaste. As soon as you swallow, it's pretty much gone.

D - A very drinkable brew. It's far less complex and deep than many other dubbels, but it makes up for it's simple nature with a easy-drinking quaffability. This is a dubbel for the summer months.
