This dark gold lager was brewed with twice the malt & hops of our original Pilsner. The result? an Imperial-style Pilsner with a full-bodied, rich hoppy finish.

What a tasty beer! Im liking this Double/Imperial Pilsner thing. More breweries need to crank one of these out.
This beer is not going to satisfy the traditional Euro Pils lover its not a crisp, snappy, lighter beer. But thats a good thing in my opinion. Oh, it looks like a Euro Pils, and to some extent, smells like a Pilsner. Yes, pale Pilsner malts are used, and the noble hops are there, but the mouthfeel is quite big and full, and the flavor balance leans slightly toward sweet.
I havent had many Double Pilsners (there arent all that many of them on the market yet), but Im rating this ahead of the Rogue Morimoto and just behind Midnight Suns Envy as the second best Ive tasted.

Menu currently notes 9.1% ABV. Cloyingly sweet with a Cascade hop character. Seems like they're not using German hops, which I think would fit better.

Light golden color. Frothy head with some lacing.
Bright and fresh hop aroma, grassy and citric.
Acidic hop bite comes to life in the flavor with lemon and fresh cut grass. Descent malt character with white bread and rice flavor. Hops do not blend as well with the malt as I would like.
Medium bodied and drying feel. Lots of carbonation.
Not bad. Easy drinking and dangerous due to the alcohol. Could use more balance.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a standard Square One pint glass. I think it was a weak pour because there wasn't much head on it. Color is a golden straw yellow with a thin haze. Steady carbonation activity.
Smell is super hoppy, probably the hoppiest pilsner I've had. Taste is also very hoppy with a sweet biscuit malt background. Overall it's a little one dimensional with the hops, but I like hops.
Mouthfeel has a crisp carbonation but still sits a little heavy. One is enough for the evening. If I wasn't told this was a double pilsner, I would have pegged it for a double IPA.

Pours a clear, golden color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of hops, yeast, and slight pale malt. Fits the style of an Double / Imperial Pilsner. Mouth feel smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong hops, slight yeast, pale malt, slight citrus, and slight earthy malt. Overall, good body, nice hoppiness, a little heavy on the malt, but still very good.

On tap at the Square One Brewery in St. Louis.
A - Nice strong golden color with some copper hues. When served there is no head but it looks like there was one when poured because of the lacing a nice mat that was left when I received the beer.
S - Nice grainy and malty hints with bread character and slight hops.
T - Very grainy and bready sweet malt that is very attractive and accented by the nice lingering hops. You can tell the brew is infused with hops but it still retains the pils character. It has a very full bodied character and nice caramel malt taste to it as well as great hop bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with nice balance of flavors and CO2.
D - Very high drinakability.

This big hitting brew came out with a deep and hazy amber, no head or lacing with the powerful alcohol pulling it down.
Sweet malts dominate the aroma, somehow hops play into the mix. Taste also has that initial blast of sweetness with heavy oats and malt. Even a touch of caramel to add to the drinking pleasure. These double pils are a real treat, and Square One cranks out a good one. Drink, and enjoy this brew.

Served on-tap at the Square One Brewery, St Louis.
A: Very nice golden in color with a nice off white head of foam which laced nicely.
S: Very much like the usual pilsner nose of noble hops and slight breadiness.
T & M: Wow, what a taste and texture! I thought it was going to be crisp and clean, but instead the body of the brew coated my tongue in sweet full flavor of rich malt and lingering hops. It's sweet, but not overly so. Think classic pils character after having been to the gym for a year. The carbonation was quite high, lending to the overall refreshment.
D: Yeah, I could and did put away a few of these quite easily.
