Perhaps I'm spoiled by other porters, but I was expecting more from this one. I was excited at first, as it came to me looking dark and frothy, and the smell was nutty and malty. However I was immediately disappointed by its watery mouthfeel and lack of robust characteristics. Yes, it did have the typical roastiness and toffee flavor of a decent porter, but the light mouthfeel really threw me off. Not the worst I've ever had, but there are better choices to be had at the Ship.

This poured a dark chestnut brown color and had a very small film of a head that topped the brew off. A nice pleasantly rich aroma of roasted grains emanates. The taste is mellow, smooth and light. Very light, as a matter of fact. Light malt body, almost watery. Theres hints of chocolate along with some dark roasted nuts in there. Very light, nothing special, drinkable.
