On draught at The Ship Inn. Pint pour served at approximately 60 degrees. It pours a semi-clear amber color with a half finger of foamy milk-white head with good retention and a thin, creamy sheen of lacing. The nose is predominately sweet: Malt, toffee, lemon peel, and light pine. The taste also opens with a lot of sweet malt, caramel, biscuit, grapefruit, lemon, and a hint of coriander. The English Kent Goldings hops provide bitterness without a strong bite but do provide a moderately bitter after taste. This ale is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation, and at 6% ABV it's an easy drinker. The menu states that it's brewed "in the New England style" but I see little in common with NE IPA's. I'd call this an English IPA. Its sweetness comes from the malt and not the fruit. It's a nice pub-style beer and paired nicely with Yorkshire Pudding.
