On cask at the Ship Inn on 4/5/2008. They served it to me in a Fuller's Imperial pint glass. When I was there, I thought Ship Inn called White Wonder Porter. It's more than likely the same beer.
This Porter appeared to be an all black beer, but when it was held up into the light, it was more of a dark crimson red color. Sitting on top of this beer was creamy 2 inch head of beige colored foam. It looked good enough to eat. This head of foam had pretty good retention that left behind foamy beige colored rings and just a few spots of lace. The aroma was mildly sour with roasted malts, a splash of coffee, a hint of chocolate, and fruity esters. When it was swirled around, this heavy aroma of ripe banana comes out nowhere and quickly takes over the entire aroma. The taste was light with roasted malts, a dab of cocoa, a drop of roasted coffee, and then it finishes with mildly sour roasted hops. It was a light bodied beer with a faint lightly sour aftertaste of roasted malts, a hint of vanilla, and a splash of fruity hops. In the end, this was a refreshing lightly sour and roasty session beer. A must try at the Ship Inn.

Ship Inn- White Winter Porter
Appearance- Reddish black with a small soapy head.
Smell- Big smokey hops blended with sweet toffee/ caramel.
Taste- Smooth caramel malt with a smokey wooded flavor. Slight roasted coffee bean taste.
Mouthfeel- Flavorful body with a dry finish. Tastes like a campfire burnt caramel candy.
Overall- Yet another awesome beer from the Ship Inn. An excellent beer to drink all day on a cold day or to finsh off the evening.
