12oz into a snifter
L - pours inky black and thick with a 2 inch creamy mocha head
S - Slightly acrid and ashy, a bit too much black patent malt perhaps? Overpowers the rich chocolate a bit
T - Bitter dark chocolate with molasses and a drying slightly ashy finish - tastes just like one of those super dark 70% + chocolate bars
F - medium to full bodied, very fine carb gives a soft creamy mouth feel
overall a really tasty beer. The acrid ashen aroma isn't great, but it balances out the chocolate sweetness and makes this more a bitter dark chocolate stout and not a sweet milk chocolate (which seems to be all the rage these days). Very well made and interesting - a great take on chocolate additions without making a sweet beer.

As always with Murrays' the carbonation seems to be a challenge. I had one of these just after release, and another for this review. Carbonation now better and not a gusher!
Despite the chocolate moniker there is a strong liquorice note present.
Lots of choc in the mix, and a lot less bitter than the regular, with strong roasts being Moderated into a more balanced beer.
I am unsure if this will age as well as the standard.

Pours black with a small, light tan head.
Nose shows milk chocolate, soft roast, sultanas and bready malt.
Flavours include heaps of dry roasty, toasty notes, cocoa, soft booze and liquorice.

Tastes like orgasm in a bottle. Nice mouth feel, chocolatey, not at all boozy. Yum, great in cold weather.

A - Pours a jet black with a tanned head that dissipates fairly quickly
S - Strong espresso coffee on the nose, some dark chocolate and a hint of liquorice
T - Similiar to the nose but more strong dark chocolate present with espresso, fairly boozy with a rum like liquer shining through at the finish
M - Medium to full bodied with high carbonation
O - Not sure what Murrays are trying to achieve here with this. Very boozy which to me overpowers any flavours that are present. A far cry from the Imperial Stout and I could not honestly recommend.
