Tried at the Australian Beer Festival in The Rocks 07.
Pours an almost opaque red-black colour, with just flashes of the slightly lighter ruby making its way through. Decent compact head of crema-coloured foam. Excellent lacing.
Dark sugar on the nose suggesting depth. Bit of roasted character. Nice though almost threatening to be too sweet.
Taste is robust, but drinkable. Strong dark malt charring bitterness which lingers for quite a while. It's nice. Dries out on the lengthy afterpalate. Unfortunately, the mouthfeel is a bit thin for the flavours, but the style does call for something perhaps a bit milder, so I suppose it's not too bad.
It's nice though, and very drinkable. Really nice session Porter.
