Murray's Whale Ale is a refreshing wheat beer with a twist. Its high percentage of malted and unmalted wheat and aromatic late hop profile gives a unique take on a session strength ale. A classic light body, creamy mouthfeel and refreshing citric flavour. This is balanced with assertive late hopping, giving a fresh, light tropical fruit aroma and cleansing dry finish.
Murray's Whale Ale is light gold in colour with the traditional cloudy appearance of wheat beers.

Doesn't really seem like a wheat beer, but it did grow on me as I went through the bottle. Definitely worth a taste, but don't expect your traditional wheat beer.

I had a 330ml bottle.
Apprearance: pours golden colour typical of a wheat beer with nice clean white head. Good lacing remains across the glass and edge.
Aroma: a miss for me. There are no banana fruity esters I expect of wheat beer. There is some maltiness but not much. Maybe my bottle is past due as it lacks some freshness.
Flavour: it is very thin with not much body and the flavour lacks punch. The best element is that the carbonation is good and given the lighter flavours it is easy drinking and refreshing to the extent that it is very sessionable drink that could substitute in some ways as a summer ale style.
Overall: I'm rating this average and hoping that the reason is that my bottle is not as fresh as it could be. Hopefully the next one I have will be better!!

From bottle, Sweet nose. Hazy light amber beer with scummy head. Light bodied with a short lightly citric finish. It's ok worth a try if you can get it.

Format: a light brown 330mL bottle with a decent craft label.
Appearance: pours a hazy mid straw-copper colour with a limited head that leaves no lacing. Not great for a wheat beer.
Aroma: more citrus and herbs here with only a dose of wheat fug in the back. Not particularly brilliant.
Taste: again the wheat fug with yeast over the top. A touch of those herbs, but not much. Okay at best.
Aftertaste: more yeast and wheat fug. Really not a brilliant wheat beer.
Mouth feel: medium in body with a moderate carbonation. Reasonably full in feel due to the wheat. The best part of this beer.
Overall: not a particularly brilliant attempt at a wheat beer. An awkward wheat and yeast fug with a touch of herbs and citrus that feel artificially planted on top. No thanks, particularly not for AU$52 for a case of 16.

Bottled beer served in a glass.
Appearance -
A very thick, three finger, cloudy, white head.
Hazy golden yellow colour.
Lots of carbonation streaming to the top to sustain that thick head.
So far so good.
Smell -
Cereal, yeast, orange peel, pine, biscuit but a bit weak and a little bit skunky.
Taste -
Stone fruits – peaches, apricots, rockmelon. Ginger, a touch of bitterness, grapefruit, wheat and yeast and soda water. Not bad, but on the conservative side and a bit watered down.
Mouthfeel -
Very pricky, lots of bite and fizz but overcarbonated which makes it a bit hard to drink. A light body which is a bit watery. Clean and crisp and not too much to spoil it however.
Overall -
A decent and sessional beer. Refreshing and some good flavours are present, but it's a bit on the safe side and not substantially better than the macros. A craft beer for the casual drinkers.

A - Pours a murky light yellow colour with thin white head leaving very little lacing.
S - Light citrus notes, lemon, apple and some pear.
T - Get the pear and some apples although a little yeasty, wheaty with some orange peel and a slightly bitter finish.

O - A little disappointing light citrus giving a average bitter after taste that to me is not very pleasant.
