Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting, from Getränke Hoffmann, Harrislee. ABV is 6%. Cloudy greyish-brown colour, large off-white head. Strong aroma of over-ripe bananas, brown bread and cloves. Pleasant flavour, again strong notes of banana, also brown bread, caramel and cloves. Lovely beer.

Bought a half liter bottle in Rothenburg Germany and drank it from a Weizen glass on the river cruise ship. Poured a hazy light brown color with golden highlights at the bottom of the glass. Big light tan head with excellent retention and thick patches of lacing. Aroma and flavor feature rich bready and sweet malt and some hefeweizens features like cloves and a banana-like presence. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth but light enough to make you want more. A good Dunkle!!!!

Had on tap in Munich, poured into a tall weiss glass.

L: Pours a murky brown/mahogany color with a thick tannish head. Falls slowly with ample lacing.

S: Mild, grains and bananas... a dash of cloves and caramel.

T/F: Clean and refreshing, with the yeastiness of a weiss... citrus and banana with a bit more toasted malts and caramel. Slightly bitter at the finish. Very carbonated.

O: A nice warm weather beer and an odd cross between a weiss and a dunkel. Worth trying and very sessionable.

Bought on a recent trip to Germany.
Hefe, also dark hefe, has tough competition.
Murky brown beer, big creamy head.
Aroma of banana, mostly. Only a little of the clove that the 'Helles hefe' has so much of.
Taste is far more interesting than that of the 'Helles'. More bitter for one. The caramel is quite good.
Refreshing and a lot of carbonation.
Overall this is a good beer. A category which only has a few of the excellent mark, it's a good one to taste and review.
After that, It's a drink that does very well.
