On tap at Prost DC. Poured into a Tucher glass mug.
A - Pours a cloudy brownish orange. A pleasant color with a lasting off-white one finger head.
S - Faint malt to non-existent.
T - I really like the taste. A blend of crackers and mild citrus. Not hoppy in any way. No sweetness.
MF - medium light body with a barely dry finish. No bitterness.

cool to be seeing a little more authentic german stuff on tap around boise in recent months, we have always done pretty well with these, but some good diversity lately. ive been up and down on the tucher stuff, but this is delicious, a little different than expected, seems like more than just an unfiltered lager, almost drinks like a hefeweizen, with quite a lot from the yeast in this doing the whole clove and banana thing, along with some spiciness and fuller body that makes it seem more like a wheat than what i am used to in this style, but i know there is a pretty wide permissible range of characteristics in these, and i welcome its uniqueness. frothy white head two inches tall from the tap on top of pale orange uniformly cloudy base beer, looks excited and well refined in my glass, even with the haze. nose and taste is creamy lemon, orange, ripe banana, green plantain, green grape, and earthy starchy grain frothing it up, to me it seems wheaty, but it could be a trick of mash chemistry and water profile, definitely organic and old worldy and quintessentially german through and through, the yeast is bready, soft, estery, and really unifying and forward in here. relatively complex for what it is, a slight bit of oxidation but it really only adds to the intrigue to me at this level, and i think with salty food this was a wonderful partner. medium body but fluffy, good carbonation, boldly flavored for its low alcohol. real solid overall, i hope to encounter this one again. definitely more in the yeast forward categories of german beers than i have often considered the kellerbier in other examples, so this surprised me a bit.

Pours a clear, golden colored beer with a bigger, froth head.
Smells of dusty sponge, wheat, crackers and a faint, herbal note.
Has a light, refreshing, yet mellow mouthfeel with a higher, well integrated carbonation.
Tastes of crackers, mellow straw, an aqueous softness and sweeter turning caramel malts. During its mid palate the beer turns a little thinner, with solely the toffee playing a noteworthy role. Finishes more effervescent, with a little wheat, coppery pennies and just a whiff of herbs.
This has very few edges, is a little too sweet with no real flavor development, while offering a very smooth mouthfeel.

Have only had one previous in this style. Purchased a bottle in Bamburg Germany and drank it the next night on a cruise ship. Pours a dense, hazy bright gold with a big, white frothy head. Head retention is excellent and there is a lot of patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma nd taste include some sweet malt, a buttery rich apple juice presence and a little bitterness in the finish. Goes down very smooth with a nice refreshing presence. Good choice for a warm day.

Slightly hazy amber orange color with a one finger head with short retention.
Aroma with notes of dank herbal hops, hay, honey, some apples and oranges.
Flavor with notes of dough, some orange citrusy, bread and butter, mild floral and herbal hops, minerals, some green apple puree, grainy malts, a bit of paper and chalky yeast. Dry aftertaste with a low bitterness and a pleasant residual mild sweetness.
Light body somewhat creamy with appropriate carbonation.
Easy to drink and within style. Some expected and even welcomed diacetyl, but I feel this was meant to be drunk very fresh from the brewery taps. Minerals and paper are showing a bit more than wished.

My first beer of this style. It felt like a wheat beer, taste profile of a lager. It was smooth and very drinkable.
