Half liter bottle picked up at a getrankemarkt in northern Bavaria labeled best by 07.09.2024. Hits all the marks for the style. Aroma and flavor of earth, charred malt, chocolate, tobacco, coffee, chicory. Lights, approachable body and feel. For the flavor profile, you expect this style to be heavy but it rarely is. Another over-performer based on the current average score. But why would the average BA know how to rank a proper lager? It isn’t a hop bomb with a stupid name.

Brown color and clear. Modest but no lace.
Sweet caramel smell--very candy-like.
Creamy and sweet and a bit overpowering with the sugar. Naturally rich body with a moderate carbonation level. In the middle of the tasting, I get a faint touch of darker chocolate, but it doesn't last long strong enough to retain one's interest. Long sugary aftertaste which has no notable hop to balance the beer.

Nothing stands out for me on this rather pedestrian brew. Color is clear brown (cola) with thin and short lasting head.Taste and aroma very light, with just light bitterness on the palate. Not the best...
