On tap, poured into a shaker. The aromsa is a bit floral up front, but fades to a mellow, roasted chocolate and mellow caramel. The beer is an oily and dark, rich cola brown with a light tan, dense head that has poor retention and lace. The taste is on the light side of medium, balanced sweet and bitter. It's slick and thin with a fuzzy carbonation and a medium body with a roasted flavor of grains and light coffee that finishes slick with spice and some licorice. The aftertaste is malty chocolate and roasted grains.

on tap at motor city brewery. 12 oz pour into a pint glass.
pours dark brown to black with a thin, creamy, one finger head that slowly retreats to a ring around the glass. spotty lacing.
smell is on the weak side, but notes of roasted malt and dark fruit are evident.
taste is good but lacking in complexity. roasted malts up front with obvious coffee and chocolate notes and a little hop bitterness in back. malty sweetness lingers for a while.
mouthfeel is good, medium bodied with just enough co2 to give the beer a creamy feel.
at only 5.2%, this is a very sessionable stout and certainly one of the better mcb offerings.

Straight "4's" across the board. Pours out as dark as night, with a very, nice aroma of roasted malt and expresso. Taste follows suite with a nice balance of hops and malts. This is a very good stout and one that could be drank in quantity.
